Raku work at Gallery Kawarabanya, Seto

From the 4th of December I have been showing my raku work at Gallery Kawarabanya. The work mainly fired in gas and oil fired raku kilns comprised of about 60 pieces. Some bowls which could be used for the Tea ceremnoy, flower vases, dishes, wall pieces and a series of 10 masks slioghtly inspired by the Japanese Nohmen masks. Techniques employed were glazes, wax resist over slips and a body made with a blend of pulp and refractory clay. Other reason for exhibiting was the position of the gallery in an old quarter of the city. The area has fallen into neglect and groups of younf people have begun to set up various activities-a community cafe and the gallery are two examples, in order to galvanize the district. I am happy that my ceramic work can take place within such a context
