International Tea Bowl Exhibition in Belguim
I have been invited to participate in The International Exhibition of Tea Bowls in Antwerp, Belguim, organized by The Last House. I have submitted four pieces in four different styles that reflect the four countries in which I have lived. India, England, Spain and Japan. Perhaps the most controversial is the Gold Chawan. I was shown the connection by a friend in Delhi between India and The Japanese Tea Ceremony and how Sen-no Rikyu decided on the size of the Tea Room. His inspiration was a sutra by Vikramidatya in which it is said that to the truly Enlightened there is no concept of space. The Tea Bowl is meant to reflect all that is out, within. This is what happens with a highly reflective surface. Below is information about the show.
