This section refers to how we built the Fire Trees in Manapany, L`Isle de La Reunion.

I first started building Fire Trees in the mid-80`s using adobes. I was living in Spain, but when asked to do so in the UK I switched to unfired bricks.

At the Onomachi Dragon Festival, Japan I switched to paperclay which is what I am using here. The paperclay has additions of basalt and olivine freely found on this volcanic island. We coil and beat the piece into shape.

Rapid drying presents no problems but before firing adequate time must be given to drying out the work completely.
