Wali Hawes does Fire Trees

Firetrees are large tree-like structures made from clay. By throwing wood into the large openings in the trunks and then lighting the fire, light and sparks would shoot out of the open holes of the branches. They created lovely spectacles of light and were a huge hit on the island of Reunion.

I was in Ponferrada in the province of Leon, Spain to do some work. Had a really amazing time and met some great people. I was there for the Ceramics Festival and did these Fire Trees.
